Musical Influence
Musical Influence, Songs like Alice in Chains "Don't Follow", Goo Goo Dolls "Name", Stone Temple Pilots "Plush Unplugged" are some of the songs that made me want to pick up an acoustic guitar. I grew up singing the Beach Boys, Elvis and many other 50's and 60's tune while driving with my parents. Latter I got into Led Zeppelin, the Doors and Jimmy Hendrix. The discovery of my parents record collection exposed me to The Beatles, James Taylor, Simon and Garfunkel to name a few. These records influenced my musical style a lot. I've always loved the sound of an acoustic guitar and singer or as Jimmy Buffett calls it "Simple six string music." Of course the stories of folk music captured me too. Local and Regional acts have always been a favorite of mine as well. Even when I didn't play guitar I would study what the band or artist was doing. I would critique the performance to myself and pay attention to the reactions of the crowd to what happened on stage. Music always has been my passion. It's really all I truly want to do. If I am playing in front of 500 people, or just some friends in my living room, I just love it. Some of my other influences include, Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, Bob Marley, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, O.A.R., Sublime, and The Avett Brothers. People often ask me what kind of music do you play? I can sum it up like this, acoustic variety. More of a folk/Americana thing than anything else. I just love to share my music with people.
